Matthew A. DiGirolamo
Hi there, and welcome to my bio!! I was six when I first started drawing obsessively, and art has been a huge part of my life ever since. In high school, I did oil painting, black & white drawing, and wood sculpture, going on to paint miniatures in college!
I started doing shield work after I got my first apartment in my mid 20s. The early days of YouTube when you had artists like Lindsay Stirling and Peter Hollens going viral were hugely inspiring, as well as professional cosplayers like YayaHan. I saw artists successfully turning their passions into a career and I said to myself "I want in on that".
Shield work combines both a creative outlet and a means of research for me. This work has an adjacency to academia that I am in love with, and I'm very excited you've opted to take a look at some of what I do!
